Blind Lady Ale House couples great local beers with old world-style pizzas topped with organic ingredients. For a truly unique experience, visit Polite Provisions. This apothecary-style bar serves up microbrews and craft cocktails in a stylishly retro space.

For food, start at Twiggs, a laidback coffeehouse that also serves freshly made pastries, breakfast biscuits, and Panini sandwiches. To get your Mexican food fix, visit El Zarape, a popular spot for authentic Mexican food. Soda and Swine is your go-to for savory, spicy meatballs served with your choice of sauce, cheese, and style (slider, sub, or with spaghetti).

For fun activities, the area offers a variety of antique and boutique shops. Head to the acclaimed Diversionary Theater for some amazing local productions. The Diversionary Theater is dedicated to providing quality productions for LGBTQ communities in San Diego.

Schools in University Heights

University Heights offers one public elementary school, Birney Elementary, which is served by the San Diego Unified School District. Roosevelt International Middle School is also served by the SDUSD. University Heights is also home to Aseltine School, a small private school that serves kindergarten through twelfth grade.

While there are no public high schools within the neighborhood, residents can attend nearby high schools, including Hoover High School, Academy of Our Lady of Peace, and Arroyo Paseo Charter High School.
